Developmental Readiness Australia (DRA)
Developmental Readiness Australia (DRA) is a national early childhood support initiative focused on strengthening developmental foundations in children aged 0–5 before learning challenges emerge.
DRA partners with childcare centres, kindergartens, and families to:
- Identify developmental needs early through structured observation
- Translate observation into practical developmental plans
- Strengthen communication and regulation
- Build educator capability
- Reduce long-term learning and behavioural risk
DRA bridges developmental science and everyday early childhood practice through practical tools, professional training, and in-room support.
Core Philosophy:
Early developmental gaps rarely stay small.
When unobserved or unsupported, they compound — affecting regulation, communication, confidence, learning, schooling and ultimately life.
While the Early Years Learning Framework provides strong outcome guidance, many services report needing greater support in translating these outcomes into structured developmental planning — particularly for children presenting with speech delays, regulation challenges, or sensory vulnerabilities.
